bench

I love the Nelson bench but needed a smaller scale and didn’t have the budget. So, here’s my take on this classic.

A total of 60 linear feet of 1×2 and 1×3 maple boards

A dado blade was used to cut box joints on the slats and cross-pieces.

MATH! Determining the miter cuts for a trapezoid took a bit of thought. The acute angles at the top had not been cut at this point.

Assembling the pieces before taking apart for addtional sanding and staining

Finished product. Sanded and polyurethaned. It’s undersized dimensions (3′ long by ~33″) work perfectly as a coffee table for a loveseat.
